Share in the joy of singing vocal harmony! And develop your connected and enthusiastic singing voice while doing it! Humans have found deep connectivity with themselves and their peers through singing together since humankind developed the ability to speak. Voices have an innate ability to find harmonies that ring, and it is important we foster this experience in children from a young age. This group workshop presents an opportunity for kids to experience joy by singing together while also developing all the vocal and general music skills they'd get out of private coaching. We will look at vocal harmony styles from around the world throughout history, and use the lens of mid-20th Century American Doo Wop (the influence behind much of Rhythm & Blues and a very important step in the long line of African American music traditions) to sing harmonies that are straightforward yet powerful. Every singer will experience singing lead and harmony parts, and grand collaboration and equity will be present throughout the learning experience. Please note that all singers will need to be in the same room while singing together.
