Lighting Design for Theatre and Dance: Virtual Mentorship

Private Sessions Available: Fridays–Sundays, 11:00 AM–4:00 PM (CT) Personalized one-on-one mentorship in lighting design for theatre and dance. These virtual sessions are tailored to each student's interests, experience level, and creative goals, whether they are brand new to lighting design or looking to deepen their existing skills. Students explore the artistic and technical foundations of lighting design, including color, angle, intensity, focus, visual composition, and storytelling. Sessions may include design exercises, script or performance analysis, portfolio development, feedback on current projects, and hands-on practice using a free virtual lighting design simulator. Through individualized guidance, students build confidence in their creative decision-making while developing skills in visual storytelling, problem-solving, critical thinking, and artistic collaboration. Mentorship sessions provide a supportive environment where students can ask questions, experiment with ideas, and receive personalized feedback at their own pace. Ideal for students interested in theatre, dance, design, visual arts, or backstage production work. No prior experience is required, and sessions can be adapted to meet a wide range of learning goals and experience levels. Image Credits: Ian Murphy
