Hello, I'm Angie Kay.

I am a special effects makeup artist, designer, educator, and production professional with more than a decade of experience creating makeup effects for film, theatre, immersive attractions, and live entertainment. Throughout my career, I have designed and executed makeup looks ranging from realistic injuries and trauma effects to complex horror characters, while also leading, training, and supervising makeup teams responsible for consistently reproducing those designs across large casts and productions. My professional experience includes work with High Octane Films, 13th Floor Entertainment Group, Old Tucson Studios, independent film productions, and numerous theatres, haunts, and entertainment venues across the United States. These opportunities have allowed me to collaborate with talented artists and industry-leading horror professionals while developing practical techniques that translate effectively to both stage and screen. In addition to my production work, I have taught theatrical and technical arts at conservatories and educational programs, helping students build confidence through hands-on learning. My teaching style focuses on making professional techniques approachable, whether students are exploring special effects makeup for the first time or looking to strengthen existing skills. I am passionate about sharing the artistry, creativity, and problem-solving that make special effects makeup such a powerful storytelling tool. My classes emphasize practical application, industry techniques, safety, and the foundational skills needed to create realistic SFX looks.
