I've taught Art in the schools and online for many years, all ages and grade levels. I found that even the most resistant of potential artists can produce an excellent drawing when I guide them step by step.

Experience subject

Sometimes, I don't even tell my student what the subject of the drawing is because we just begin with a mark or two. The student copies that mark and tells me when to continue. Then we make more marks, still the subject is unknown and suspense is building. Take your time is the mantra. As we progress through the process, the identity of the work of art is revealed. Then we complete the art with some easy shading and the student uses the color tools of choice to bring it to life in color. WaaLaaa...you're an artist!
