From Idea to Prototype: Building Your First Product

This course is designed to take students from a simple idea to a working prototype of a product or startup. Students will begin by identifying real-world problems and learning how to turn observations into opportunities. They will explore ideation techniques, sketch concepts, and define a clear value proposition. As the course progresses, students will learn how to design and build early-stage prototypes using accessible tools such as 3D modeling, digital design platforms, or basic physical materials. Emphasis is placed on rapid iteration, testing ideas quickly, and learning from failure. Students will also be introduced to foundational startup concepts including target users, market validation, branding, and storytelling. The course concludes with students presenting their product or startup concept, supported by a functional prototype and a clear pitch. By the end, students will understand how to move from concept to creation, gaining both technical skills and an entrepreneurial mindset that can be applied across industries.
