COMICS: Pages & Panels

Comic books are a medium, an exciting and profound storytelling medium. This dynamic, hands-on introduction to the art of comic book making is recommended for bold storytellers ages 10 and up. Comics are one of the most powerful and culturally rich visual storytelling forms in the world. In this course, students will explore the foundations of comic book creation through a series of engaging, structured hands-on activities including: Activities: -Sketching and developing your own original character with a unique personality and backstory -Designing a six panel sequential story strip using composition, dialogue, and visual pacing -Building an expressive scene using perspective techniques, speech bubbles, and assembling a short narrative comic page *Please Note: (Bring your own materials, paper, markers, rulers, pens, inks, erasers, etc) Whether you're picking up a pencil for the first time or looking to sharpen a focused sequential art practice, this course is designed to challenge, inspire, and excite. No prior drawing experience required just a story you're ready to tell and the curiosity to tell it visually. By the end of the course, every student walks away with a completed original comic, a deeper understanding of visual narrative, and the confidence to keep creating worlds of their own!
