Basic Special Effects Makeup: Bruises, Cuts, and Scrapes
Have you ever wondered how realistic injuries are created for the stage, film, haunted attractions, and live entertainment? In this beginner-friendly special effects makeup course, students will learn the fundamentals of SFX makeup by creating convincing bruises, cuts, scrapes, and other common wound effects. Drawing from over 12 years of professional industry experience in live entertainment, theatre, film, and immersive productions, I'll guide students through the techniques artists use to create believable injury makeup that reads effectively both on stage and on camera. Students will learn color theory for injury simulation, product selection, blending techniques, wound construction basics, and safe makeup application practices. This class is designed for beginners with little or no prior makeup experience. By the end of the course, students will have the skills and confidence to create realistic bruises and cuts for theatrical productions, short films, cosplay, haunted attractions, and creative projects.
