Bilingüe Improv is a playful, story-based bilingual enrichment experience where children listen to a short bilingual book, learn new words, practice with comprehension, making inferences from the story, and using improvisation (improv) to create alternate endings as a team. Students can use English, Spanish, or a natural combination of both as they act, respond, and build a new story together. The goal isn’t perfect Spanish.The goal is teamwork, creativity, confidence, language exposure, and joyful participation. This class is tailored to gifted​/​talented, twice-exceptional(2E), and high achieving students from underserved communities. If you are wondering the answer is YES, everyone is welcome at Bilingüe Improv! This concept came from an in-person improv experience with a 2nd grade student I was teaching. The student did not feel comfortable reading a script in English in front of peers. Instead of forcing the student to perform the script, the activity shifted into both of us doing spontaneous improv in Spanish in front of the class!!! Sometimes children don’t need to be pushed to communicate in one prescribed way. They need another door into communication. I am here to provide that for your student! :) Remember, Don’t translate. Just play. 🎭
