👋 Hello, I'm Ms. ShaVanety (Shuh-van-uh-tee)! I'm an early career school psychologist who LOVES helping gifted​/​talented and twice-exceptional (2E) students from underrepresented communities unlock their full potential. As a former gifted student, I understand what it is like to navigate being a child and giftedness simultaneously. My goal is to support learners by building confidence, encouraging curiosity, and creating a space where every student feels seen, heard, and empowered. There’s nothing better than seeing that “light bulb moment” when something finally clicks! ✨ What to expect in my classes? You can expect a lot of encouragement, a few jokes (you’ve been warned!). I believe learning should be expressive and FUN. As a theater performer, I love incorporating roleplay, storytelling, culture, languages, and creativity into my lessons. It’s all about engaging the imagination while building real skills. 📚🎓Education & Training: I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Specialist Degree in School Psychology—a rigorous three-year graduate program beyond a Master’s level (but just shy of a doctorate). I also earned a Paralegal Certificate, which taught me the importance of attention to detail and strong communication. I’m a proud Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP), a Certified Executive Functioning Coach, and a PEERS® (Program for the Education and Enrichment of Relational Skills) Certified Provider. My training gives me a strong foundation in supporting learners with social-emotional growth, organization, time management, and self-advocacy—skills that are essential both in and out of the classroom. 🐾 Fun fact about me: I share my home with my sweet black cat, Sebastian, who may or may not try to make a guest appearance during class! He’s a curious sidekick who loves sitting in on lessons (and walking across my keyboard).
