Hello! My name is Sarah Sanborn, and I am an artist specializing in many different mediums; painting, drawing, sketching, charcoal, oils, watercolors, acrylics, collage, and multi media. This experience of an intuitive self portrait is a fun way for your child to formulate a self portrait that is not necessarily an image of their face. We will explore hobbies, music tastes, and all things that the student enjoys in their life that defines who they are. We will first discuss different ideas of personal interests, next I will ask the students some examples that they came up with, and lead them through some simple sketches of these. This is going to be a work in progress that can be worked on in class, and also after the class is over, in the student's private time if they choose to. A self portrait done in this way, as a collage truly gives the art student a chance to think outside the box and search to find images of what they enjoy, what makes them who they are. This is so important to these young ones, as they will take with them the physical finished product, but also a boost to their self esteem that when they look at their self portrait collage, they will know it is theirs as it will be very personal to them. I am excited to share how our intution leads us in our art, how this has shaped my entire art career thus far, and in every painting I do. For the more we give ourselves respect, caring and acknowledge our personal gifts and interests, this helps to shape how we show up in the world. This younger generation are the leaders of tomorrow, let's help them remember how brilliant they truly are in this and all my experiences offered.
