Hello, I'm Heike C..

I am Heike Currie, an arts educator, writer, editor, and teaching artist with more than two decades of experience across K–12 education, higher education, arts organizations, and performance. I have taught music, Spanish, arts leadership, and traditional West African dance, helping learners connect creative practice with history, culture, communication, and self-expression. My performance and teaching background includes study with renowned traditional West African artists as well as feature appearances at DanceAfrica at BAM, the National Black Theatre Festival, and MIT’s Kresge Auditorium. I hold an Ed.M. in Arts in Education from Harvard University and bring warmth, structure, curiosity, and cultural care to every learning experience. I believe the arts are vital pathways to self-knowing and self-becoming, and I equally value the connection and community created when people learn and make art together.
