Douglas Rappaport is a narrative writer whose work spans novels, screenplays, and stage plays, with a focus on identity, memory, and the fault lines between truth and perception. He is the author of three novels and a narrative nonfiction book, and his storytelling has been recognized across multiple mediums, including a commissioned writing assignment for a Hollywood director. His work has earned numerous accolades: his historical epic Prisoner of Heaven won the Scriptmatix True Story Screenplay Contest; his novel Reckoner earned third place at the BookFest Awards; Dead People was a finalist in the Script2Comic Contest; and Satori by Night (previously titled A Wolf at the Door) was a finalist in the B!tchfest Film Festival & Screenplay Contest. Douglas began his creative life as a classically trained violinist and composer, studying at Yale University, the University of Southern California, Goldsmiths College (University of London), Guildhall School of Music & Drama, and the London International Film School. That foundation in structure, rhythm, and emotional precision continues to shape his writing today. Now based in Rhode Island, he teaches writers how to build resonant stories with clarity, momentum, and a voice that feels unmistakably their own.
