Hello, I'm Dr. Lily Zhu.
Hi, I’m Dr. Lily Zhu, a professional violinist and educator with over 8 years of teaching experience. I hold a Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) in Violin Performance and currently serve as Assistant Concertmaster of the Jackson Symphony Orchestra. I also specialized in helping small hands violinist to learn the violin (if you have small hands, you want to learn with a small-handed violin teacher, because I understand what you're going through. I've been there). I have Youtube channel: Small Hands Violin (I share violin tips and tutorials for small hands violinists). Subscribe my channel so you don't miss any contents. Some of the recent Student Achievements: -Jasmine Ng, won First Prize (Division I) at the Illinois Grade School Music Association (IGSMA) District Competition. (Feb. 2026) -Harry Shen, won Concertmaster title position at Three Rivers Young Peoples Orchestras (YPO) (Nov. 2025) -Several other students all got into Detroit Metropolitan Youth Symphony (DMYS) My teaching is detail-driven, structured, and musical. I focus on building strong technique, reliable rhythm, and expressive playing, so students don’t just play the notes, but tell a convincing musical story. I’ve trained with internationally recognized violinists and bring real professional standards into every lesson. Who I Work With I work best with students who already have basic technique and want to: • Helping small-handed violin players develop smart fingerings and technique that work with their physiology. • Improve consistency and confidence • Prepare for orchestra auditions and competitions • Refine musical expression and control • Receive clear, honest, and efficient guidance
