Hello, I'm Mrs. King.
Ellen King Mrs. King’s Arts Camp With more than 25 years combined experience teaching Art, 11 years for the Chicago Park District and the last 17 working in public and private schools. With a bachelor of fine arts from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a masters of art in teaching from National-Louis University I have a wealth of experience working with children to foster a love of art making. With being an International Baccalaureate-accredited visual arts teacher my broad scope tends to incorporate a worldly perspective often incorporating culturally relevant art connections that appeal to students of all backgrounds. In 2010, I was selected “Most Outstanding Teacher of the Year” at Kellogg Elementary school in Chicago. In 2012, I decided to create a summer program where children could be inspired to develop their creativity. My vision was to bring learning and fun together during the summer months in a pressure free environment. My aim was to give students a way to develop their creative expression while cultivating connections and experiencing the wonders of nature. The camp eventually moved to a virtual platform and continued to provide opportunities for children to express their creativity.
