Art for Breakfast
I feel it is best to connect with students 1:1 to provide them with my entire attention, aiming to help their specific needs. Art and other forms of creativity can help students understand material better by making and/or drawing it. Learning with your hands is one of the best ways to learn. Multi-medium forms of art help students mentally and physically. Along with making art, this experience gives children the opportunity to learn about healthy eating habits.
Experience subject
I have done in-person 1:1 in the classroom. I also did private group sessions in the classroom as well. In college, we completed a course regarding art relating to childhood learning. In this particular scenario, multi-mediums were used to create this piece. It may look like you need a lot to complete it. Nope! Just construction paper, markers, scissors and clay/play-dough. Each step will be made clear with what materials are needed as well. I find it best to do the project with the student, similar to an in-person classroom. This would be a multiple session project, learning what to do with each material before combining them all together. As previously mentioned, along with making art, it also teaches children healthy eating habits. Thus, leading into the food pyramid and where their food would be labeled from there.
