From Sketch to Shelf: Create Your Own Product Collection

Is your teen thinking about art school? Are you curious about the real world application of art? Ever wonder how the artwork on greeting cards, stickers, gift bags, and your favorite products gets made? This class is taught by Mackenzie Raposo, an award winning illustrator and product designer. Her work has been sold in TJ Maxx, Trader Joes, Michaels stores, and countless boutiques across the world. In this experience, students will step into the role of a professional illustrator and product designer, learning how to transform their creative ideas into a cohesive mini product collection. We'll explore the full design process from brainstorming and sketching to color palettes, illustration techniques, surface patterns, and creating artwork designed for real-world products. By the end of the experience, each student will have their own small product line featuring concepts such as greeting cards, surface patterns, product mockups, and coordinating giftable items. This is a hands-on, real-world creative experience for older kids and teens who love art and are curious about turning their passion into a career. Students will get a behind-the-scenes look at how professional artists bring ideas to life and how creativity can grow into real opportunities.
