J. Robert Spencer is a Tony Award-nominated actor, singer-songwriter, director, educator, and touring artist with more than three decades of professional experience in theatre, television, film, concerts, and live performance. Best known for originating the role of Dan Goodman in the Broadway hit Next to Normal, for which he received a Tony Award nomination for Best Leading Actor in a Musical, and for creating the role of Nick Massi in the original Broadway cast of Jersey Boys, J. Robert has performed for audiences worldwide and has shared the stage with some of the industry's most respected artists. A graduate of Shenandoah Conservatory, he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Fine Arts in recognition of his artistic achievements and contributions to the performing arts. Through his coaching, students gain practical tools for auditioning, performance preparation, storytelling, vocal interpretation, and career development.
