I believe that each student’s musical journey is as unique as their own fingerprint. With my lesson plans, whether it be for vocal coaching, general music theory​/​reading, or composition​/​songwriting lessons, my students will always be respected for their own personal style. I do not believe in a "cookie cutter" approach - each student's lessons are customized just for them. I have always felt that music is a natural language that we all can tap into. It is a form of communication that we have been hearing our entire lives. That feeling you get when you hear a certain song and can't help but sing along... and maybe dance too! It's the best feeling, and this is what I would like to share with my students. The simple power of music and how we use it to express ourselves with our very own voices through song. The magic that children can experience through the arts is truly special. I believe in the empowerment that we all can receive through the gift of music, and learning how to exercise our own unique talents.

About My Lessons for Young Vocal Students My first lesson with any student begins with a proper introduction, and getting to know what kind of music they enjoy. We will begin with some "singer's stretching" and gentle breathing exercises. Many vocal warm-up exercises are rather "silly" sounding, so we always have fun with that part. :) From there, I will ask the student to participate in a general “range test” where they will sing along with notes on the piano so that I can assess their general vocal range and identify areas that may require more attention, including ear training. I have found that this method assures that the student receives a proper warm up for the next part of the lesson, while allowing me to learn about their voice. After the initial assessment and knowing more about the student and their voice, I will ask them to sing a favorite song for me. It really can be anything, any genre. It’s important for me to hear what my student is passionate about. I want to make my students comfortable and I have always found that this helps greatly. Sing what you love and we can go from there! My lessons are always personalized for the needs of my student. We will work together to achieve the student’s goals, and always study the music that the student chooses. I am happy to make suggestions based on the student's personal style. Plainly put, Singing has been my lifelong passion, and I am fortunate to have had amazing Teachers. If I am able to teach others how to more fully embrace and feel confident in this shared love of music, I have succeeded.
