Blues Guitar Lesson

In this 1-on-1 lesson, I will teach your student how to play Blues music. Rather than focusing on music theory and learning the ergonomics of the fretboard, we will be diving into how music feels. Your student will be given homework to practice outside of the class to bring to each session. Together, we will learn to play a 12-bar blues progression as well as dive into how to solo on that progression. It is recommended that students have a general understanding of how to play chords as well as scales going into the lesson; however, it is not required. Additionally, we will cover the history of the blues and its influences in modern-day music. Your student will be given recommendations of albums to listen to depending on what it is they like. It is important to listen to and play along with these albums and draw knowledge from them to have productive sessions. It is also important for your student to have a passion for the blues, as that is what makes learning it fun.

Experience subject

Blues is the heart and soul of modern western music, without it there would be no Rock & Roll, and the expression of our culture through music would be vastly different. In this subject, we will learn all there is to know about blues music, from who the legends are and what makes each of their playing so emotionally raw that it pulls on your heartstrings.
