Global Perspectives: Music, Culture, and Ideas

Explore music, culture, and ideas through a global lens. In these sessions, we examine how music connects with history, philosophy, religion, and cultural traditions around the world. Drawing on my background in the humanities, including studies in religion and international academic experience, I guide students in thinking critically about how artistic expression reflects broader social and cultural movements. We may discuss musical traditions, cultural exchange, philosophical ideas about art, and how creative works shape and respond to the societies they come from. Sessions are conversational and tailored to the student’s interests, encouraging curiosity, open discussion, and deeper understanding of global cultural perspectives. Students leave with expanded cultural awareness, stronger critical thinking skills, and new ways of understanding music and artistic expression in a global context.
