How to use Procreate & Design your own Pokémon

Is your child a budding Pokémon Master that wants to bring their own designs to life? In this online workshop, students will enter the world of digital art and learn the basics of the app Procreate on their iPad. Through group learning and one-on-one guidance and feedback, students will leave this workshop with an elementary understanding of how to mimic the Pokémon style, give breath to their own art, and meet other students in the same age group that share a love for Pokémon. **Workshop is currently only available 8​/​19-8​/​22** **Each workshop will be approximately an hour, for a total of four workshops** Needed to Attend: - Procreate - iPad OS 15.4.1 or later - 1st or 2nd generation Apple Pencil - Stable Internet connection - Zoom Recommended Grade Levels: 3rd-8th 4 day workshop: Day One Workshop: How to use Procreate - Students will learn the basics of Procreate, including but not limited to: picking brushes, gesture shortcuts, creating characters with colors, organizing layers, and other special effects. Day Two Workshop: Mimicking the Pokémon Art Style - Students will follow Dalton as he demonstrates how to re-create existing Pokémon art using references, custom brushes, and screen sharing to walk students through the process. - At the end of this workshop, students will begin to brainstorm their ideas and find their own reference pictures to bring their ideas to life. Day Three and Four Workshop: Bringing your Pokémon to Life - Students will work on bringing their ideas to life and utilize one-on-one breakout rooms with Dalton as he helps them solidify their ideas and receive feedback and guidance on using Procreate and perfecting their artwork. - Students will showcase their art and share the fruit of their labors! Benefits of the Class: - Cultivate Creativity: Foster creativity and promote self-confidence; students will learn to be proud of their accomplishments and see a quick progression of their art skills in a short four day workshop. - Expert Guidance: Work in groups and one-on-one with a seasoned Procreate expert and receive individual attention. - Make New Friends: Join a community of other growing artists who share the same interests and passions. - Convenience and Flexibility: Attend the workshop from any location to allow a balance of schoolwork with creative extracurricular activities. - Self-Expression: Develop a sense of creativity and imagination in a time where art classes are not readily available in many school settings. Pick and Choose: Maybe your student already has a basic understanding of Procreate, or has already gone through the four-day workshop and wants to attend the third and fourth workshops for continued guidance on designing their own Pokémon. Instructor: Dalton, an experienced Procreate user and Pokémon aficionado, has been drawing and designing Pokémon since he was in elementary school. Throughout the last decade, he has been creating his own Pokémon fan-game and designing his art on Procreate for several years. He is enthusiastic about sharing his creative experiences and instilling a sense of accomplishment and creativity in students.
